On the occasion of Milan Design Week 2023 Pollini Home presents its new collection “Beyond the edge” inside the spaces of Superstudio Più, in via Tortona 27.
Selected to join the “Unexpected Objects” chosen by management artistic at Superstudio Più, Pollini Home’s new products surprise with the unexpected use of porcelain stoneware.
Beyond the edge is a collection of furniture made by applying an innovative thermoforming process to large-format stoneware slabs by allowing their curving.
This technique, patented by the company, has opened up unexpected
scenarios of stoneware use, to go beyond the limits hitherto imposed by the flatness of slabs to overcome sharp, angular volumes, in favor of a curvilinear, enveloping imagery composed of cylindrical elements, curved and connected lines.
The Beyond the Edge collection is designed by Alessandro Mattia and Gloria Gianatti of Sapiens Design Studio, who also sign the exhibition space.
Part of the Beyond the Edge collection are the AINE sideboard, the +UNO seat, the GOCCIA shower tray and the GIRO washbasin.
Aine is a sideboard whose volume is covered with a wraparound stoneware band that curves on the two sides and is interrupted on the front at the two doors. Stoneware flexes to create
a protrusion at the ‘opening, becoming an ergonomic element.
Aine is a piece of furniture that is elegant and essential in form, whose decomposition of volumes makes it possible to
Playing with different material and color combinations.
+UNO is a modular seat made by exploiting the potential of the porcelain stoneware curving technique. The sinusoidal pattern of its profile recalls the propagation of a wave and, by juxtaposing several elements together, generates a curved line
continuous that expands ideally to infinity. The essentiality of the volumes that make up the
the base and the seat, allows different material and color combinations to be generated.
The porcelain shower tray features a thermoformed surface that promotes water runoff with seamless gradient.
It is available in a raised version with a side profile also made of curved stoneware, or in a version laid flush with the floor to integrate the shower into the bathroom in an elegant way, creating a unique environment with a homogeneous design.
The GIRO washbasin consists of a cylindrical volume divided into three parts entirely
Made of curved porcelain stoneware.
It is an equipped sink thanks to the
metal accessories that orbit the central body and act as the
towel racks, trays and shelves.
All products were made through the cooperation and supply of Iris Ceramica’s slabs:
